1. What this service is

CSVTidy is a web-based set of tools for cleaning, converting and combining tabular data files. Every tool on the site runs entirely within your browser — your file is not uploaded to us.

Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.

2. What it costs

The tools described as free are free to use without an account. Some exports are reserved for a paid tier that does not exist yet; where that is the case the page says so before you do the work, not after.

Files exported from the general cleaner include a small cleaned_by column identifying CSVTidy. This is shown in the preview before you download, and you are free to delete the column afterwards. Files produced by the import checkers do not include it, because it would interfere with the import.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use CSVTidy for unlawful purposes;
• probe, scan, overload or otherwise disrupt the service or the infrastructure it runs on;
• submit deceptive information, including automated or fake waitlist signups;
• resell or rebrand the service as your own, or systematically scrape it to build a competing product.

What you do with your own data is your business. We place no restrictions on the files you process, because we never see them.

4. Your data and your responsibility for it

You keep all rights to the files you process. We claim no ownership or licence over them, and could not exercise one if we wanted to, since the contents never reach us.

You are responsible for having the right to process the data you put into the tool, and for meeting any obligations that attach to it — for example where a file contains other people's personal data.

5. No warranty

CSVTidy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any transformation will suit your particular purpose.

Check the output before you rely on it, and keep the original file. These tools change data. A cleaning step that is right for one file can be wrong for another — dates, phone numbers and name splitting all involve interpretation, and interpretation can be wrong. Where a tool has to guess, it tells you and asks; but the responsibility for verifying the result before it reaches a production system, a customer database or an accounting ledger is yours.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CSVTidy and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost or corrupted data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

7. Availability and changes to the service

This is a free service and we make no uptime commitment. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any tool at any time. Because processing happens in your browser and nothing is stored on our servers, you lose no data if a tool is withdrawn — but you should not build a critical automated process around a free tool you do not control.

8. Age

CSVTidy is intended for people aged 16 or over, or for younger users with the consent of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised version. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will make that clear rather than rely on the date alone.
